01 How it works

## What happens when you write

1. **We reply within two working days** From the editor of the list, not a form letter.
2. **We check a second source** A public record, a document from the business, or a call.
3. **We fix it and date it** The page shows when it was last updated.
4. **Bigger errors get a note on the page** If a fact affected a selection, the list says so.

Shortlist is an independent guide. Businesses can pay for an enhanced profile or for quote requests; no one can pay for a place on a shortlist or for its order. [How we make money](https://theshortlistlocal.com/how-we-make-money/).
